INTERNSHIP - THRIVE CHURCH

During Spring of 2024, I was graciously tasked with being an intern for Thrive Church of Morganton, North Carolina for my final semester of my senior year of college. Using my skills and knowledge, I conducted graphic design and photography work for Thrive. I used Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator to create designs fit for powerpoint slides for use within the church as well as for their social media. These slides consisted of updates regarding new hires, title changes for members among the board, upcoming events, and themed slides tailored for use with a specific topic in mind. Currently a work in progress, I was also tasked with creating designs for vacation bible school which consisted of creating characters that would be icons to guide children through lessons that they will learn from and help them grow closer to God. In terms of photography, I was initially asked to take pictures at both Easter services, particularly of the children singing for the audience before the services actually began. I took off with this idea and decided to start taking photos at both services almost every Sunday since then. I thoroughly enjoyed capturing moments of casual chatting between people before services, friends being silly for the camera and photobombing some of my photos, parents and their children preparing for the day ahead, couples readying themselves for a new lesson to ponder on and become closer to one another spiritually, the pastor (and/or any other speaker(s)) educating his audience and bringing them closer to God. I am thankful for the opportunity I received in being able to work here, even if it was as an intern. I learned a lot during my internship time and I have learned new things that I can take with me for future purposes, whether it be for my own personal growth or growth within others. I was able to hone and improve my graphic design and photography skills as well as other skills such as leadership, communication, and problem-solving.
